My name is Angela Jones.

A little about me...

I am going into my third year of fashion management and marketing. I'm a mixed media creative with a strong background in Photography and Video editing. Through this I am able to approach projects both creatively and commercially. I’m interested in how brands connect with culture, and I aim to create work that feels intentional, relevant, and visually driven.

I love storytelling and understanding the commercial climate of the business side of fashion.

INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE- FRANCIS DE LARA

My experience working f0r Francis de Lara, a high end luxury sunglasses brand opened my eyes to what goes on behind the scenes in a fashion brand.

Working alongside John-Paul Pietrus, the talent behind the eye candy, broadened my perspective on how efficient one must be to first of all start a brand and secondly to execute the day to day business of having said brand.

From never ending e-mails to having zoom calls from different continents whilst working on orders for a showcase in Qatar, Doha, keeping track of inventory and making social media content, it truly blew my mind how much one can do in a days work!

My primary  responsibilities in this role consisted of keeping track of gem inventory using Excel, doing background research, packaging orders and creating content for social media. ​

From this experience I learnt the value of discipline and the importance of creating content that speaks to your target demographic. I worked on a bridal post for Francis de Lara's instagram, where I edited past photo shoots and incorporated those with a moodboard I made on Pinterest. I also helped to create a couple Tik Toks, where I incorporated the gen z style of marketing, making sure to use trending sounds, dynamic images and and relevant text typography as well as popular hashtags to drive views.

Oh Polly Fashion Show - Dresser

Working as a dresser for the annual Oh Polly fashion show was a really fun experience. 

My roles included making sure the looks were in pristine condition. Attention to detail was particularly important in spotting loose threads that needed to be cut, or creases on the fabric that needed a steam.

I found that what was most important to be in a busy, stressful environment was someone who could spot what needed to be done without asking as well as someone that was friendly to the models and team that day. This experience taught me the importance of being able to work calmly in a fast pace environment as well as using my own intuition to be a helping hand .

One summer I felt inspired to create a photoshoot from objects and clothing I found 'In the Garage'.

Garages to me have always felt like a purgatory home to store things deemed us junk or sentimental clutter. 

I myself have an issue with saying goodbye to things, so felt to remedy my hoarding addiction I'd make something to commemorate my things finally exiting Limbo. These are some film photos I shot on a Canon AE-1 using Ilford HP 5+ film.

Photoshoot Assistant - Jude Edginton for Graham Norton

I was fortunate enough to gain work experience with celebrity photographer Jude Edginton. The shoot was Graham Norton for The Radio Times. My responsibilities on this shoot included, making sure everything with the set up was done correctly, I was in charge of lighting, overseeing the team  was tended to and also helped to create a mood boards of poses we could show to Mr. Norton as inspiration for the final picture for the magazine.

'U.N.I.T.Y' Queen Latifah inspired music video

My brief for this project was to create a protest music video for my final year of A-Levels. I was delighted to receive an A* for this video as I had really pushed myself to understand disciplines I wasn't yet familiar with, such as Preimere Pro, beat matching and directing a team. Unfortunately, Covid was at its peak, and rules regarding social gatherings were strict. Each session felt like it could be the last time we would see each other; which meant we had to work efficiently.​

What I enjoy the most about directing my own music video was knowing whether or not I'd be happy with the end result, directly correlated to how much effort I'd put into it in the first place. I found the most salient skill to have in being able to execute a low budget project like this, was to be incredibly organised, and practical. Learning to work with what your given taught me to be more flexible to change and to appreciate the struggles along the journey.
